Minyon Falls
Project Description
The main goal of this project was to convert a large, sloping area into a highly productive garden and food forest. To achieve this, we implemented a clever plan to cut three swales following the contour of the land. These swales were designed in such a way that water would flow from one into the other, eventually reaching an existing dam on the property and then making its way back to a nearby local creek.
In these swales, we planted a diverse range of vegetation, including fruit trees, flowers, native plants, various grasses, and a mix of different layers (Stratas) of plants.
The results of our efforts have been truly outstanding! Despite a relatively short period of time, we were able to witness an incredible transformation. The once-sloppy area has now been turned into a thriving and vibrant space, boasting a bountiful harvest and a rich variety of plant life. The success of this project is truly remarkable and serves as a testament to the power of thoughtful planning and eco-friendly practices.
